She's on DD status while I get my Subaru into a shop and fixed up. Spent Sunday night getting it ready for the week. My running problem was that the fuel lines were dirty and the fuel filter was completely clogged.

How clogged you ask?

That clogged. I tapped all of that rust and what not out of there.

Cut the filter apart and discovered more junk! Really nasty. Threw on a new filter and it's already dirty again.

Luckily I snagged a few more from Autozone so I can swap them in anytime. I need to get my gas tank reconditioned.

Tonight I flushed the radiator. Hopefully this will help to keep it a little more cool while idling in traffic.

That fuel filter is worse than the one I pulled out of my W123 when I first got it. And that car had been sitting for 8 years. Think I replaced it 3 times within a 2 month period before it was showing completely clean.

Haha I hate them as much as you! They're terrible. I don't yet have the money for the Konigs that I want, so I might snag some diamond racing steelies in the mean time cause they're so cheap! Heavy, but cheap.

I couldn't believe how dirty it was. Unlike anything I'd seen before! I'm going to be replacing them almost weekly cause they're so cheap and it's good insurance until the fuel clears up a bit.

I should have replaced mine a 4th time. Not doing so resulted in the car having no power and stalling while trying to drive home to PA from WVU for fall break last year.

It's a night and day difference. Couldn't make it more than 8 miles with the previous lines/filter. Now I'm doing about 50 miles a day.

Rust is the main problem out here in Rhode Island...most Z cars are piles of dust by now. I found three at a storage place, not particular rusty, but still dilapidated.

Yessir its my DD for the time being. I don't like putting the hard miles on it, but it handles it all in stride.

In terms of how it drives, its a lot of fun. A quick little car for being as old as it is. Fun in the turns and quite nice cruising the highway. No power steering or brakes which I think adds to the fun of it. Have you driven one before?

They're great cars! If you have the chance for some wheel time on one, dont pass it up!

Have you driven a car without power steering/brakes? I hadn't until I picked up my Baja Bug. It takes some getting used to but its not too bad.

I've never driven a car w/o power steering and breaks. Most of my driving is done in a 7 year old 328i, or my moms Honda Odyssey which is only slightly older.
